Fiberol Energy Inc plans to build a sawdust briquet plant at the former Evergreen Pulp Mill (the portion still owned by the former owners of Freshwater Tissue Co.). On Thursday April 16, 2015 at 10 A.M. hearings will be held in the upstairs conference room (Room 204) of the Humboldt County Planning Department at 3015 H Street, Eureka, CA.  Questions can be directed to Michael Wheeler, 707-445-7541.

Modifications of an existing Coastal Development Permit to substitute construction of a sawdust briquet plant for a previously permitted whole log chipper with supporting facilities.  The manufacturing process requires 8 tons of wet sawdust per hour generating 3.6 tons of dry sawdust.  The plant will operate 24 hours a day. The finished product is residential bricks for residential heating. Any person may appear and present the hearing.

They have also applied for a permit from the North Coast Unified Air Quality Management District to construct a rotary drum dryer For additional information contact District Staff at 707-443-3093. Interested persons can submit comments in writing , or a request for a public hearing to the Air Pollution Control Officer at NCUAQMD, 707 L Street, Eureka, CA 95501  Written statements  and requests must be received by the District prior to 5 PM on May 1, 2015.
